John L. Laun, Executive Vice President
Chief Development Officer
John is Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer of APOGEE Interactive, Inc. In this capacity, he is responsible for the development of strategic alliances and channel partners to extend Apogee's market reach. He also provides business development support with key clients and gives direction to new product development. Apogee's services are delivered through innovative Internet solutions, interactive multimedia training, customer communication solutions, technology support services and consulting. Additionally, APOGEE hosts the leading exchange platform for large customer demand response, THE DEMAND EXCHANGE® Trading Platform, which is hosted for many large utilities and has traded over 150 MWh a year.
John has over 12 years experience in the utilities and energy services industry, plus 5 years addressing the eBusiness and IT needs developed as a result of energy industry restructuring and deregulation. Additionally, he has 16 years experience in sales and marketing of engineered products and related services.
Before joining APOGEE Interactive, John gained substantial experience in IT applications and services at Cayenta, Inc. and Science Applications International, Inc. (SAIC). He served as Senior Vice President, Business Development at Cayenta, Inc., focused on energy and utility clients. He also led the development of the business process outsourcing practice at Cayenta. While at SAIC as Vice President and Deputy Group Manager of the Utilities Practice, a key accomplishment was the acquisition and successful transition of the EnerLink business unit from the Southern Company in Atlanta into SAIC.
John's utility and energy services industry expertise was gained at Sempra Energy, and predecessor companies San Diego Gas & Electric and Enova Energy. He successfully led large regulated and unregulated units as Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service in SDG&E, and as Senior Vice President of Enova Energy, Energy Pacific, and Sempra Energy Solutions. John was a key senior management contributor as Sempra Energy created business strategies to prosper during industry restructuring.
Prior sales and marketing experience was gained at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, culminating with the position of Marketing Manager for Adjustable Frequency Drives. John developed the marketing and sales concepts at Westinghouse to focus this product line's value proposition on savings resulting from energy efficiency improvements.
John holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has also completed the Executive Development Program at Cornell University's Johnson School of Management.
