James E. Malcom Promoted to COO of APOGEE Interactive

ATLANTA, Ga., Dec. 31, 2009 – APOGEE Interactive has promoted James E. Malcom to chief operating officer of the Atlanta-based company that develops energy efficiency Web applications for energy utilities nationwide. Malcom joined the company in February as chief financial officer and will assume his new responsibilities in addition to his role as CFO.

Malcom comes to Apogee with more than 20 years in corporate finance and accounting, which began with the firms KPMG and Ernst & Young in Atlanta. His career steadily expanded to include senior posts as chief financial officer, corporate controller, vice president and treasurer for such area companies as Heidelberg USA, LecStar Telecom and Powertel.

“Jim came on board and immediately grasped our business, our company culture and our commitment to helping utilities deliver energy efficiency to consumers through high-quality Web applications and energy education,” said Susan Gilbert, president and chief executive officer of Apogee. “Jim quickly demonstrated his ability to assume a larger role and more responsibility in directing Apogee’s business operations in addition to its financial operations,” Gilbert said.

A graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration, and a certified public accountant licensed in Georgia, Malcom resides in Alpharetta with his wife and their three children.

Apogee Interactive Inc. (www.apogee.net) was founded by Stone Mountain residents Susan and Joel Gilbert in 1994 after years of energy management consulting in the utility industry. The company is headquartered in northeast Atlanta in the Crescent Centre Parkway building. Apogee’s online energy analysis and customer self service Web applications are currently in use by more than 400 electric and gas companies across the US, including Southern Company Services, Marietta Power and Jackson EMC in metro Atlanta.
