Hunt Technologies Partners with Apogee Interactive to Provide Added Value for Utility Customers

PEQUOT LAKES, MN - Feb. 24, 2005 - Hunt Technologies, a leading provider of automatic meter reading (AMR) solutions to the electric, water and gas utility industry, announced it is partnering with Apogee Interactive to provide additional consumer-focused services to utilities.

Beginning second quarter of 2005, Hunt will offer a suite of Apogee-powered applications to utilities that use Command Center™ software for operating the Turtle® AMR System.

These applications include: " The HomeEnergyCalculator™ - a tool consumers can use to do energy-use analysis using their actual daily usage data provided by the Turtle System; and " The BillingInsight Call Center System - a powerful customer service software application that enables bill analysis for high bill call resolution.

Additionally, Command Center users that take advantage of Hunt Technologies' hosting services will be able to offer an energy usage viewer that consumers can access on the utility's Web site.

"We understand the need for utilities to deliver exceptional service to their consumers. Helping our customers provide consumers with more information is a new focus for Hunt Technologies," said Todd Headlee, chief operating officer. "Ultimately, this partnership highlights the value of getting daily AMR data from the Turtle System."

The HomeEnergyCalculator is customer-facing, meaning that it is designed for use on the utility's Web site where it gives customers easy access to information about their home's energy use. Users set up their base house, then can run scenarios on their homes to get savings estimates for various energy improvements like changing thermostat settings or adding storm windows. The application can provide detailed home energy audits using the AMR data. Taking into account such variables as actual local weather, energy prices, and rate structures, the HomeEnergyCalculator produces attractive and informative charts and graphs that give answers to customer's energy questions.

The BillingInsight Call Center System is utility-facing, meaning it is for use by utility customer service representatives (CSRs) as they work to resolve billing questions. When a call comes in, the CSR asks several questions the system needs to perform its detailed analysis, including approximate square footage of the home and number of occupants. By combining these home demographics with the Turtle AMR data and daily weather information, BillingInsight presents the CSR with possible resolutions, such as "Were you away from the home for an extended period?" or "Did you add any major appliances in the past month?"

"Our focus is on adding value for consumers by making energy data meaningful and actionable. The integration of our applications with Hunt's AMR capabilities turns data into information that is easily accessed and intuitively presented," explained Apogee's Eric Watson. "Utilities want increased customer satisfaction and reduced costs. These applications provide for both."
